Christine Race’s Artist Biography
Christine Race aka Chris E Minck Race was born and raised in Bergen County, NJ. She developed a love of textiles and fiber arts as a child and received a BA in Fine Arts Education from Montclair State College (now University) in 1972. She married a Vietnam veteran in 1973; they began their journey moving around the US in 1975. Fiber supplies, spinning equipment, and weaving looms found a place in each home.
Chris learned hand spinning in CO, Navajo spinning and weaving techniques in NM, needlepoint in RI, wool felting in OK, and business ownership (packing and shipping artwork) in Colorado Springs. Chris and her husband retired in December 2018 and moved to rural Fort Clark Springs, TX, in May 2019. That was the beginning of her tapestry journey.
