Kathy J. Spoering's Statement
Much of my work is done in series, as I can't seem to say all I want to say about a topic in one tapestry. "Scrub Oak" is from my Leaving series, which I created in the time that my sons were getting ready to leave home and go out on their own. "Watermelon Girls" is the first piece from my Heritage series, which is about my family life and history. "Tending Peace" is the Summer tapestry from my Seasons series, which is the series I am currently at work on. All of my tapestries are about the life I live, and the lives that surround me. Most are in a representative style.
