TAFE Diploma Program in Tapestry

TAFE stands for Technical And Further Education.
There is more than one TAFE campus in the country of Australia, but the
tapestry diploma is offered only via the campus in Warrnambool in
Victoria. A complete description of the philosophy of the program, as
well as a detailed listing of the courses, was available from their web
site in the past, but it may not be available currently. Thus, some of
the following is taken from the old site:
The purpose of this course is to provide training
for individuals who wish to pursue careers in the tapestry
weaving fields. The course will enable students to gain competencies
needed to work in a number of areas in the industry. The underlying
philosophy of the department is to enrich individual students with
highly developed practical and conceptual skills while directing them
along career paths in the art industry. The department works closely to
the needs of the marketplace/industry, and creates a work environment
that encourages initiative and enterprise.
Entry Requirement
Year 12 or mature age entry. Written application
with photos or examples of textile / art work.
Career Prospects
Studio weaver, community artist, exhibiting
artist, workshop weaver, workshop tutor and weaving commissions.

6 years part time
