Janet Austin --
“I was so exhausted when I got home, with a million ideas running
around in my head, that I couldn't think about what to say. This makes
it sound like a traumatic experience, which would be totally wrong; it
was really fantastic, but there is a limit to the amount
of new information I can process at once, and I
think I exceeded it!
...Mary Lane did an excellent job of presenting
the slides on Sunday morning....these were slides brought along by
participants, and Mary read the artists' statements and the titles and
dimensions of the slides. I only wish more people had brought slides of
their work.
Also, I think Ruth Manning, who hosted the forum
at the end of the weekend, should have her own daytime talk show!
"Distraught Parents of Wayward Tapestry Weavers" perhaps?
...I feel like I have lots of new tapestry
friends, unfortunately most of them live far far away; but that just
means I will have no choice now about whether to attend the next event!
I'm hooked.
Seeing ATB5 was unforgettable, and I was once more
reminded of how poorly a photograph sometimes represents a tapestry.
Some pieces that I hardly noticed as photographs, just grabbed me and
pulled me in.”
